Katie and Derek have become very dear to my husband and I. I feel like we relate to them on many levels and over time, they have become a household name. They have been so supportive of me as they have had two different sessions previous to their wedding day. It has been such an absolute pleasure to work with them. They have been a blessing since the day I met them.
Fate brought me to a brown eyed girl and a blonde haired guy who met way back in middle school. As I’ve gotten to know Katie and Derek, I’ve realized that they are first and foremost, very best friends. At their wedding, you not only experienced the little things that Katie and Derek love and enjoy, like for instance, the compound bows at the alter and the deer antlers decoratively placed. You also got to look at images from them when they we little and images of their time together on multiple trips and adventures. The DJ even provided a fun trivia session where you learned that they LOVE Buffalo Wild Wings and Derek proposed to Katie at Roscoe Village during the Christmas Season.
It’s the little things like that, that truly bring a wedding into focus. I feel as though a lot of the time weddings can get focused onto other not-so-important things but this wedding was truly focused around Katie and Derek becoming one family. The support among their friends and family was strong and abundant. I don’t think they could have had a better wedding.
Katie’s morning and prep started with mimosas and having her hair done. It was very calm, the girls just joking around and talking about various things. Starting the day on the right foot.
Katie gave her bridesmaids the opportunity to express their style. She gave them a color and they picked their style. I think that’s a great way to keep people happy yet look flawless!
How they met Katie….. I really like that they all have different handwriting!
Here are some of those personal touches. Katie and Derek made sure their bows accompanied them to the alter. They also made sure to have a special memorial table for Katie’s beloved Grandma Shirley.
Could they be anymore beautiful/handsome! I’m still in love with Katie’s dress. It’s so stunning and elegant!
Katie and Derek handmade most of their decor. I think that is something to be proud of. It looks fantastic and is really put together. I specifically love the pallets. I would have never thought to use them that way!
The cake is as yummy as it is beautiful! My husband made the point of saying that the tan color of the cake was perfectly matched with the men’s attire. Sometimes that color can go wrong and look dirty but the cake artist nailed it!
Katie and her father had a surprise dance for their guests! (haha, I know about it. Ofcourse I knew about it, I know all!!! mwahahahaha!)
Katie and Derek had a sparkler filled exit as they made their way one step closer to their honeymoon!
