Our meeting with April and Matt was not JUST meeting April and Matt. Upon the first time My husband and I met them, they also brought along April’s cousin and her best friend. I remember the meeting like it was yesterday. We sat and a long table and ate breakfast. Although the conversation often lead to football, their proposal story, and Matt’s funny one liners, Matt and April were very serious in hiring the perfect photographer and rightfully so!

Matt and April, her cousin and friend sat with me and asked all the right questions. It was incredible to watch all the support around them in the wedding planning. They asked about contract details and how the timeline works, wtc. When I listened to them and their preparation, I knew they were the right couple for me to photograph. I only hoped that I was the right photographer in their eyes.

It’s so important for photographers to be completely transparent and honest about photography with couples. It starts with listening to what they like, don’t like. Observing their style, their wedding decor ideas and wedding colors. You have to really get to know them and see if what they love, is what you can offer. I think a lot of times, people think ‘weddings are weddings’ but in all reality, they aren’t. In my opinion, weddings are the biggest display and celebration of two people combining their personalities to be displayed in the form of colors, decor, fashion and food. Matt & April’s wedding displayed just that. From the southern feel of the venue (April grew up in the south) to the pocket watches hand picked by Matt for the groomsmen, it expressed every aspect of who April and Matt were.

I have to admit, I adored this wedding. Every single part of it. April & Matt, along with their entire wedding party were so fun and welcoming. It was an amazing wedding that I know will follow an amazing marriage for the two of them.
